Are S I M P L E things more beautiful?

is the beauty seen in a fleeting moment, without the chance to analyze it....somehow more pure?

or do you lean towards the beauty hard won, in a life lesson's triumph?

i think the simplicity of some things makes them seem delicate, fragile, almost accidental. and in that fleeting accident of happenstance, yes, there is beauty.

also the complexity of a plan well hatched, a coming together of a great many items, acts, and people into a desired definite outcome is also in its own way, beautiful.

to me, the appeal of the MOST beautiful things is that they don't have to try. they can be enjoyed for as short or as long a time imaginable, and i feel all the richer for being there to hear, see, touch, them. effortless simple beauty: was i blessed or just lucky?

Not necessarily, though they're often far more wonderful than most people recognize. The trick is learning to see, in every way. And that is hard won. A painter friend and I agree the best works of art are those in which you can see the struggle.
I agree with the first. The single moment before the heron takes flight, the swift beautiful migration of geese into the sunset, brief circles on the water when a stone is tossed--these are things ''felt'' %26 not thought. Honestly, I can't think of ''triumph'' having anything to do with beauty at all.
