Pagans.. ...are our books too shoddy?

Speaking of books....

I have a copy of TC Lethbridge's The Witches from 1969, and the pages, while slightly yellowed, are crisp and all in place. I have other books from as far back as the 1820s that are equally well off....

But I have *brand new* books, and books from the 1970s and up, including hardcovers, that are falling apart.

These books are, in general, equally used.

Would you pay more, say, $30 a book, for higher quality books, or are these cheaper ones (mostly glued perfect bound trade paper backs, the industry standard) running under $20 ideal?

And have you ever had a book that just was a technical disaster? (I have one of the first US copies of Triumph of the Moon and the font is microscopic!)

Yeah, well, publishing standards have changed in the last few decades. We have a disposable society and many of our books are not worth the paper they're printed on, and the paper they're printed on ain't worth diddly,

Some new-age/pagan publications are trying to cash in on a trend, they're not even trying to be responsible writing or journalism or anything anyone would keep longer than a daily newspaper. They just make it cheap cuz it's a trendy thing, make a buck, then go feed on another trend.

I agree with our Thor's-son here, in this day and age, why not enjoy your primitive spirituality through modern means. Between witchvox.com and every site devoted to particular paths, why bother buying books?
